Almost every year since 1997, the Peabody Chamber Opera has presented a staged production of early opera, under the musical leadership in turn of Webb Wiggins, Joseph Gascho, and Adam Pearl, preparing many of our graduates for early-music careers. The reorganized Early Music Department under the direction of Mark Cudek now includes a continuing ensemble, the Baltimore Baroque Band, which accompanies productions as well as playing its own concerts. The works that we have performed in art galleries, churches, and our own halls have included:

Hildegard von Bingen: Ordo Virtutum
Monteverdi: Orfeo, Poppea, & several shorter works
Cavalli: Calisto, Ormindo, & a new edition of Egisto
Purcell: Dido and Aeneas, Dioclesian, & Timon of Athens
Charpentier: Actéon & Les arts florissants
Rameau: Adonis & Anacréon
